Vikings blanked at Cullman
In a rare Saturday morning game, the Jasper Vikings were shut out by the Cullman Bearcats 21-0 at Woodard Stadium.
Cullman scored on their opening possession after Noah Kee scampered into the endzone from 5-yards out to give the Bearcats an early 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, the Bearcats Jamar Key made a miraculous catch for a 47-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0.
Cullman capped off its scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run by Jaylen Hughey in the third quarter for a 21-0 lead.
The Viking offense sputtered throughout the game, missing a FG and denied the endzone twice from inside the 15-yard line.
Sophomore quarterback Spencer Rosenfeld was also injured on the final offensive series of the second quarter. Rosenfeld did not return to the game in the second half.
The Vikings open region play this Friday night at Ki-Ro Gambrell Field against Clay-Chalkville. Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm.
