Playoff picture clearing up for local teams

With only one region contest remaining, the playoff picture is shaping up for area teams.

Who is in? Who is out? We project the opening round of the playoffs set to kick-off in two weeks.

Who's in:

Covid-19 hit the Bulldog program and wiped away a chance at a region championship. Having to forfeit the remaining two games in the region race puts Dora at a solid fourth spot in 4A Region 6.

This will place Dora on the road in the opening round against No. 2 Madison Academy. The Mustangs are currently 7-0 on the season.

Sumiton Christian

The Eagles are soaring at the right time. After a few close losses in the first half of the season, the Eagles seem to be clicking on all cylinders. There are a couple of scenarios that will determine the seeding for Sumiton Christian.

In order to take third place, the Eagles must win Friday at home against region front-runner Valley Head and couple that with a Woodville loss to Appalachian. If the stars align, that would place the Eagles on the road at Pickens County.

If the Eagles finish fourth, they will head to Berry to take on the No. 10 Wildcats.

After an overtime loss at Vinemont, the Oakman Wildcats will likely finish third in 3A Region 6. This will likely put the Wildcats on the road to Plainview (Rainsville, AL).

Who's out:
